History
Millhouses Ecclesall & Carter Knowle Community Group was formed in 2020, from a merger of Carter Knowle & Millhouses Commuity Group and Ecclesall Forum. Both of these were long-standing groups dating back to the 1990’s, covering most of Ecclesall Ward between them.
Geography
The Ecclesall Ward area is bounded approximately by Abbeydale Rd/Abbeydale Rd South on the SE; Ecclesall Woods and Bents Green on the West; Bingham Park and Endcliffe Park on the North; and Ecclesall Rd and Bannerdale Rd on the NE. It is part of the Sheffield SW area. Map
These boundaries are only approximate and some members do live beyond them – so if you want to join us please don’t feel put off.
How the Group is run
The Group has no paid officers. A Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer are elected at the Annual General Meeting – usually held in the spring. A copy of our Constitution can be seen HERE.
The Group is partly self-funded: members are asked to donate £10 per year [£20 for local businesses]. We also receive some council funding which pays for our Insurance, hire of the Meeting-rooms, and some printing costs. We also bid for Council and other funding to support specific projects – such as the Welcoming Space sessions running at St. Peter’s & St Oswald’s Church on Bannerdale Rd.
We also keep in contact with, and support, other community organisations – such as Friends of Millhouses Park, Friends of Carterknowle Park, and Banner Cross Neighbourhood Group.
